Green iguanas are a common pet in the Americas. In the wild, they live in the canopies of the rainforests of Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean Islands, and southern Brazil.
Fun Facts
Iguanas are the largest species of lizard in the Americas, growing to an average of 6.5 feet long and weighing 11 pounds. Herbivores, these reptiles can live up to 20 years in the wild. Iguanas are active during the day and excellent swimmers as they generally live near water.
