About

Pachycrocuta was a genus of prehistoric hyenas. The largest and most well researched species is Pachycrocuta brevirostris, known as the giant short-faced hyena.

Fun Facts

It probably was a small pack hunter of large animals and also scavenged for food.  Pachycrocuta was not a speedy hyena that chased down prey but had the build of a scavenger adapted to hauling off large chunks of carcasses back to the den.
